The traffic rhythms in the center of the city of Kavala are completely changed on Monday and Tuesday, September 05 and 06, 2022, due to the visit of the Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew as well as the archbishops of Athens and All Greece Hieronymos and Epiphanius of Kiev and All Ukraine.
The Kavala Police Department has decided on a series of temporary traffic regulations in order to ensure the smooth and seamless implementation of the official’s visit and at the same time to avoid inconvenience to drivers.
The traffic arrangements described in 3 articles state the following:
Article 1
1. The prohibition of the stopping and parking of all road vehicles on Sofoklis Venizelou Street (in front of the Lucy Hotel), from the opening of the central island to the end of the peninsula, from 09:00 a.m. on September 05, 2022 until 04:00 p.m. on September 06, 2022.
2. On Monday September 05, 2022
A. Prohibition of the stopping and parking of all road vehicles:
(a) On Omonoias Street, from its junction with Averof Street to its junction with Vroutou Street, during the hours of 02:00 p.m. to 06:15 p.m. (departure of the procession).
On Dagli Street, from its junction with Romanou & Anexartisias Street, to its junction with Omonoias Street, from 02:00 p.m. to 06:15 p.m. (departure of the procession).
(b) On Joakim Sgourou Street, from its junction with Korai Street, to its junction with Omonoias Street, from 02:00 p.m. to 06:15 p.m. (departure of the procession).
(c) On National Resistance Street (in front of Kavala Regional Unit), from its junction with Dagli Street to the entrance of the Archaeological Museum of Kavala, during the hours of 03:00 p.m. to 07:30 p.m. (departure of the procession).
(d) In the parking lot of the Holy Monastery of Agios Apostolos Sila Kavala, between 07:00 p.m. and 09:00 p.m. (departure of the procession).
(e) In the northern parking area of the Ancient Theater of Philippi, between the hours of 06:00 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. (departure of the procession).
(f) On the road leading to the roundabout of the Ancient Theater of Philippi, during the hours 06:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. (departure of the procession).
B. Traffic ban for all road vehicles:
(a) On Omonoias Street, from its junction with Averof Street to its junction with Vroutou Street, for the absolutely necessary time.
(b) On Dagli Street, from its junction with Romanou & Anexartisias Streets to its junction with Omonoias Street, for the absolutely necessary time.
(c) On Ioakeim Sgourou Street, from its junction with Korai Street to its junction with Omonoias Street, for the absolutely necessary time.
(d) In the parking lot of the Holy Monastery of Agios Apostolos Sila Kavala, during the hours 07:00 p.m. and 09:00 p.m.
(e) In the northern parking area of the Ancient Theater of Philippi (except buses), during the hours 06:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.
(f) On the road leading to the roundabout of the Ancient Theater of Philippi, during the hours 06:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.
C. Reversal of Averof Street, from its junction with Omonoias Street to its junction with the roundabout of Kapnergati Square, during the hours 05:15 p.m. to 06:15 p.m. (departure of the procession).
On Tuesday, September 06, 2022
A. Prohibition of stopping and parking of all road vehicles:
(a) On National Resistance Street (in front of Kavala Regional Unit), from its junction with Daglis Street to the entrance of the Archaeological Museum of Kavala, during the hours 07:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
(b) In the designated parking spaces next to the restaurant “GIALOS”, on the sidewalk of the beach front and for a length of fifty (50) meters, during the hours of 10:00 a.m. until the final departure of the officials.
(c) On Cyprus Street, from its junction with Damianou Street to its junction with Eleftheriou Venizelou Street, during the hours 09:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
(d) In front of the entrance of the Holy Baptistry of Agia Lydia, from 02:00 p.m. until the final departure of the officials.
B. Prohibition of the traffic of all road vehicles, for the absolutely necessary time:
(a) On National Resistance Street (in front of the Regional Unit of Kavala), from its junction with Dagli Street to the entrance of the Archaeological Museum of Kavala.
(b) On Cyprus Street, from its junction with Damianou Street to its junction with Eleftheriou Venizelou Street.
(c) In front of the entrance of the Holy Baptistry of Agia Lydia.
3. Due to the increased traffic regulations that will be adopted, we decide on September 05 and 06, 2022, in the central streets of the city where the procession will pass (Tenedou, Chr. Smyrnis, Er. Stavrou, El. Venizelou, Averof , Doirani, Omonoia, Daglis, 7th Division, Sof. Venizelos, Cappadocia, Asia Minor, Black Sea, Preveza):
(a) prohibit the movement of construction machinery, agricultural and slow-moving machinery (garbage trucks, etc.) that make continuous stops and
(b) to suspend the execution of all road works that were planned to be carried out, in accordance with the instructions of the Kavala Traffic Department.
Article 2
During the above traffic regulations, vehicle traffic will be conducted through detours.
The above prohibitions – regulations may be modified from the time specified in each case, depending on the arrival and departure times of the officials and at the discretion of the Commander of the Kavala Traffic Department and the stay/removal of the existing markings.
Article 3
The violators of the present, the validity of which begins from its posting on the internet and its implementation with the instructions of the traffic police or the placement of the prescribed by the KOK. signage by the relevant Municipality, in cooperation with the organizers of the event and the Kavala Traffic Department, are punished with detention or a fine, in accordance with the provisions of article 420 of the Civil Code. and the relevant articles of Law 2696/1999 “On Civil Code”, as amended by Law 3542/2007.
