Greek Tourism Minister Elena Kountoura met with MPs from Karditsa, Viotia, Ilia, and Kavala prefectures to discuss how stakeholders, tourism professionals, and local governments can promote each destination’s tourism offerings, introduce new products, and create growth conditions. She met with MPs Nikolaos Thivaios of Viotia, Chrysoula Katsavria-Sioropoulou of Karditsa, Makis Balaouras of Ilia, and Dimitris Emmanouilidis of Kavala.
Kountoura and the MPs talked about tourism policy, destination development and management, winter season products, extending the tourism season by incorporating alternative tourism options, and organizing specialized events like motorcycle tourism. Specifically, the Mototour of Nations 2017 was held last September in Ioannina, Epirus, northern Greece, and drew bikers from all over the world.
Meanwhile, Andreas Andreou, the head of the Greek community of Taranto in Italy, invited Minister Kountoura to a special event planned by Greek associations and communities for December in Italy.
