Since antiquity, the city has seen the reigns of the Romans, the Byzantines, the Bulgarians, and the Ottomans.

Apparently, Diro is the pseudonym of the artist behind them. As a Kavala-based artist, Diro’s real name remains unknown. Protecting his anonymity, his signature seems to be the black blood tiered eyes of Kavala.
