The workshop and inauguration of the Hellenic Marine Environment Protection Association’s (HELMEPA) exhibition entitled “Awareness on Marine Environment, Shipping, and Sciences,” at the fifth stop of the campaign, was a great success, thanks to the extensive participation of citizens and the obvious support of local stakeholders in Kavala.
This is a HELMEPA initiative that will be implemented over three years in 12 Greek cities and their surrounding areas with the generous support of The Lloyd’s Register Educational Trust*, a UK-based independent charity (The LRET).
Representatives from the Region of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace, the Municipalities of Kavala and Thassos, the Coast Guard and other local stakeholders, teachers, students, and environmentally conscious members of the public attended the Workshop titled “Marine Litter: A Problem That Concerns Us All.”
The HELMEPA awareness campaign aims to educate and raise environmental awareness, particularly among younger generations.
*The Lloyd’s Register Educational Trust (The LRET) funds education, training and research programmes in transportation, science, engineering, technology and the safety of life, worldwide for the benefit of all.
