On Friday, May 26, 2017, Ellinair’s first direct flight from Moscow to Kavala landed at 07:55 a.m. Ellinair, a Mouzenidis Group airline, will fly directly from Kavala to Moscow and St. Petersburg this summer.
The 138 Russian Ellinair passengers were greeted at the Megas Alexandros (Alexander the Great) airport terminal with a buffet and gift packages of local products. The Lyceum Club of Greek Women also performed a traditional dance for the Russian tourists.
“This day will be the start of a continuous development,” Ellinair Director Stavros Daliakas said upon the arrival of the flight.
Flights will operate on Tuesdays and Fridays from Kavala’s Megas Alexandros International Airport to Moscow’s Vnukovo International Airport. Flights to Pulkovo International Airport in St. Petersburg will be available on Mondays and Thursdays.
“We plan to increase flights to Kavala next year, possibly from Germany, as we aim to expand our network and provide our customers with more options in Greece.”
Theodoros Markopoulos, deputy governor of Kavala Region, and representatives of the area’s hotel association attended the ceremony.
Markopoulos expressed the Region of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace’s and Kavala’s Regional Unit’s satisfaction with the Moscow-Kavala direct flight and praised Mouzenidis Group President Boris Mouzenidis.
“I want to believe that this start will be successful, and that we will be able to record more arrivals and satisfied visitors,” Markopoulos said.
