Improvement and modernization interventions for the completion of the basic infrastructure projects and the upgrade of the security of the port in the area of Nea Peramos of the Municipality of Pangaios, Kavala, with a budget of approximately €780,000, are part of the operational program “Fisheries and the Sea” of the Ministry of Rural Development and Food.
The port of Eleftheri in Nea Peramo, Kavala mainly serves fishing, while by decision of the Secretary General of the Ministry of of Rural Development and Food is designated as a port – place of landing / transshipment of coastal fishing vessels and swordfish.
The interventions in the current phase concern works in the land area of the existing wharf, such as work on shaping the access road. It also provides for the provision of integrated services to fishermen with the installation of bumpers for the safe docking of boats as well as the installation of outdoor power-water dispensers with a prepaid card for their service. For the environmental safety of the port, the supply of suitable anti-fouling equipment for the protection of the marine environment is foreseen.
With the completion of the Action, which is co-financed by the European Maritime and Fisheries Fund, the upgrading of the services provided to itinerant fishermen and residents of the area is achieved.
