A small fire broke out on Wednesday morning, in the ground floor area of the City Hall, which was extinguished in time thanks to the intervention of the employees of the Municipality of Kavala.

The men of the Kavala Fire Service immediately rushed to the scene of the fire, in order to investigate the possible causes of its occurrence and to give the necessary advice for cleaning the area and removing the burnt objects.

According to a statement by the mayor of Kavala, Thodoros Mouriadis, the fire is most likely due to a short circuit in the light fixture located outside the office of the Treasury. The incident demonstrates the need to proceed as quickly as possible with the procedures for the repair of Kavala City Hall, through the “Antonis Tritsis” program.

As Mr. Mouriadis stated, “studies have been submitted since May to the Ministry of Culture for approval” .
