A man was arrested in the afternoon of Tuesday, November 21, 2023 in Kavala, by police officers of the Kavala Security Department.

He was charged for rape, falsification of authority, robbery, theft and violation of the arms law.

As part of the investigations, it emerged that, between November 2 and 20, 2023, the perpetrator approached two (2) women through an online dating platform and convinced them to meet in short-term rental apartments. During their meeting, the perpetrator, pretending to be a police officer, forced them to commit lewd acts at gunpoint.

Subsequently, in one case, with the use of violence, he removed a sum of money from the possession of the victim, while in the other case, leaving the apartment, he removed a sum of money and two (2) mobile phones from the possession of the second victim.

After a complaint from one of the victims that the perpetrator tried again to proceed to a meeting, a coordinated operation was organized by the above police officers in collaboration with police officers from the Crime Prevention and Suppression Team of the Kavala Security Department, where the perpetrator was located and arrested.

As part of the investigations, an imitation pistol and the two (2) stolen mobile phones were found and confiscated, which were attributed to their owner.

The file will be submitted to the District Attorney of Kavala, while the preliminary investigation was initiated by the Kavala Security Department.
